About Netra Halperin

Netra Halperin, MA

I have called Maui my home for the last twenty years. During this time I have worked as a child and family therapist for Aloha House, Maui Youth and Family Services, and Women Helping Women. Additionally, I have consulted and owned businesses in the construction, development, real estate and tourism industries. I worked as a Legislative Aide for State Representative Rida Cabanilla, Chair of Housing during the 2009 legislative session.

I am currently Interim Executive Director, Neighborhood Place of Wailuku, a nonprofit primarily serving Native Hawaiians in Happy Valley. We provide free Hawaiian culture based parenting classses - available to all parents on Maui. I received a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from San Francisco State University and a Master's degree in Psychology from Antioch University.
I am committed to using my education, experience and mana’o for finding creative solutions to the issues facing Hawaii. I believe there is enough money, natural resources and technology to have a community that thrives on all levels.
I feel that a wise lawmaker knows when to fight for the community and when to assist and work with others, utilizing their talents to get things accomplished. This is my intention as I serve South Maui’s people as State Representative.
